ASHWORTH, Edward Clayton


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, October 1, 2007 Edward Clayton Ashworth, 87, died Jan. 8, 2007 in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia to Alfred and Nora (Edmonds) Ashworth. Edward was a graduate of Huntington East High School and West Virginia Tech. During his life he worked for Union Carbide, Summersville Hospital as a Comptroller and at Fayetteville County Child Development Inc. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Edward was a past President of Gauley Bridge Lion's Club and a 50 year member of the Masonic Fraternity and their affiliations, of Beni Ke Temple, the Scottish Rite, the Fayette County Shrine Club and Aztlan Masonic Lodge #1 in Prescott, Arizona. Edward was a member of the Fayetteville United Methodist Church and the Prescott Valley United Methodist Churches. Edward is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina Marie Ashworth; sons, Ret. Capt. Michael Ashworth, of Dewey, Ariz., Ret. Lt. Col. Jeffrey (Mary) Ashworth of Prescott, Ariz.; granddaughters Amy Elizabeth Ashworth at Southwestern Academy in Rimrock, Ariz., Julie Ashworth at LaFave, in Phoenix, Ariz.; great-granddaughter Taylor Marie Ashworth at Southwestern Academy in Rimrock, Ariz.; brother Clay Ashworth of Wilson, N.C.; sisters Jewel Quinn of Tampa, Fla. and Norma Jean Slavens of Wurtland, Ky. and several nieces and nephews. Military funeral services and visitation will be in West Virginia. Memorials in Edward's honor may be made to your local Shriners' Children Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home.
