Astrid Corrine (Franzen) LeVine was born Dec. 11, 1938, at the family farm located on Vaughn's corner near Hudson Falls, Washington County, N.Y.
She returned home to the arms of her loved ones, passing unexpectedly and quietly Monday morning, July 11, 2011, after a brief stint of ill health, at her and her husband's home in Kingman. She was pronounced at Kingman Regional Medical Center shortly thereafter.
Mr. and Mrs. LeVine had only recently celebrated their 47th anniversary the previous week.
Astrid was active with her church, especially the women's group at Praise Chapel Ministries on Hualapai Mountain Road. She always had a spark of life in her and was ready for most anything. Retired from Kaiser Hospital in California, she came to love Arizona in retirement and was an ardent Diamondbacks fan. She was loved and will be missed by many in her community.
Astrid is survived by husband, John LeVine; daughter, Diane Lynn Jones, and husband, Tommy, of Redding, Calif.; her grandchildren and their spouses, Paul and Nina Jones, Cindy and James Hall (both of San Rafael, Calif.), Kimberly and Keith Wiley and Scott Jones (all of Redding, Calif.). Astrid also leaves behind four healthy great-grandsons, Kody, Mikah, Kanden and Leeland; two younger siblings, a sister, Katherine McLean of Henderson, Nev., and brother, Konrad, and wife, Carol Franzen, also of Kingman; also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the United States and abroad.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Franzen; her daughter, Cynthia Ann; older sister, Audre; two older brothers, Bertil and Theadore; and younger sister, Ingrid.
Mrs. LeVine was cremated; her remains will be taken home to upstate New York where she will be interred with her parents at Warrensburg Cemetery.
Friends and family will have a celebration of life to be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, at Praise Chapel on Hualapai Mountain Road. Astrid left an incredible mark on all she touched in her short 72 years. She will be in our hearts always.
The family asks, instead of flowers, a donation of any kind be presented to the Arizona Leukemia Foundation, P.O. Box 5820, Peoria, AZ 85385; (602) 495-1472.
