James M. "Hoop" Beran, age 85, a 22-year resident of the Bullhead City area, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, in Bullhead City, Ariz.
James was born March 26, 1926, in Muscoda, Wis. He served with the 29th Bomber Squadron in the US. Army Air Corp. as a Corporal. He survived a crash when the B-29 he was tail gunner, couldn't get off the ground, and spent 18 months in the burn unit in Roswell, NM. (yes there was a UFO crash.)
He belonged to the Mason's Lodge #70 Muscoda, Wisconsin.
James loved to talk to people and valued friends more than anything else. Our lives were richer because of him, and now Heaven is.
James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Beran; son, Matthias A. Beran II (Darlene Hall) of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two daughters, Pamela Schaefer of Bullhead City, and Debra Beran; brother, John (Lisa) Beran; two sisters, Gwen (John) Laugenberg and Beverly Crapp; 11 grandchildren, Dustin, Trent, Janda, Melissa, Amber, Crystal, Elizabeth, Shawn, Christopher, Cody and Harley; 11 great-grandchildren, Dusty, Hannah, Jacob, Trinity, Ella, Samantha, Sydney, Jack, Lilly, Paxton, Bud (aka Ethan), and two more on the way.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz. Pastor Malcolm Moberly of Valley Christian Church will be officiating.
James final resting place will be where he grew up on the farm in Wisconsin.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date at the VFW Post #6306.
