Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday Morning, August 23, 1939 City Pioneer Woman Dies Mrs. Julia Burris McDonnell, who came to Phoenix 56 years ago by wagon train from California, died yesterday at her home, 24th street and Roeser road. Mrs. McDonnell, 83-year-old pioneer was the widow of one of Arizona's early Indian fighters, George A. McDonnell, who was a member of colorful Troop 8, United States Cavalry, which captured Geronimo and campaigned against "Apache Kid". Born in Tulare county, Calif., February 18, 1856, she came to Phoenix in 1883. Funeral services will be held at ? a. m. tomorrow from Memory Chapel of A. L. Moore and Sons Mortuary and interment will be in Double Butte Cemetery, near Tempe. She is survived by three sons, Lowell Azbill, John Azbill and Robert Azbill, all of Phoenix. The Rev. C. B. Holland will officiate at the services.
