PYEATT, James Benton


The Arizona Republic - December 16, 1948 Miami, Dec. 15--Funeral services for James Benton Pyeatt, 75 years of age, who died on his birthday anniversary Monday at the home of his son, Andrew Pyeatt, Phoenix, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Payson. Born in Los Angeles, Dec. 13, 1869, he went to Globe in 1875 and shortly thereafter moved to Payson. He was engaged in the ranching business. He has been a member of the Globe Elks lodge many years. Survivors are four sons; Andrew, Phoenix; Lester, Fort Collins, Colo.; Eddie, Rickreall, Ore.; and Lloyd, Globe; three daughters, Mrs. Ollie Anderson, Brawley, Calif.; Mrs. Nellie Cline, Brooks, Ore.; and Mrs. Dollie Lazar, Florence; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Cooper, Whittler, Calif, and Miss Minnie Pyeatt, Phoenix; one brother, Walter Pyeatt, Madera, Calif., and a number of grandchildren. One grandson, Muriel Pyeatt, was killed at Pearl Harbor. The Globe Elks Lodge will be in charge of services assisted by Warren Strom, exalted ruler of Miami Lodge. Burial will be in Payson Cemetery.
