The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona, Friday, May 22, 1959 - Page 49. John T. Toot MESA. - John Thomas Toot, former Mesa resident, died Wednesday at his home in Payson following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Payson school, with burial in Payson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Meldrum Mortuary here. Mr. Toot, born July 11, 1874 in Touse, Mo., came to Mesa from Deming, N. M. in 1920, and moved to Payson six years ago. In Deming, he was employed as a yardman by Foxworth Lumber Co. After coming to Mesa he was a yardman for Foxworth Galbraith Lumber Co. from 1920 to 1953, when he retired. He is survived by his wife, Hannah; three sons, John W., Mesa; Don E., Long Beach; and G. E., Tonto Basin; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Connolly, Safford, and Mrs. Frank Howell, Payson; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
