Basil Franklin Pfaff of Prescott died on Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Basil was born in Portland Township, Monroe County, Wisconsin, on Aug. 19, 1924, to Fred and Katherine (Antony) Pfaff.
Basil served in the USN in World War II, receiving the World War II Victory Medal. Basil also served in the U.S. Army, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal for service during the Korean War. Basil retired with 33 years of service in the military.
Basil married Dorothy in 1953 and enjoyed 53 years of marriage. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, American Legion, Sacred Heart Fun Bunch, Newcomers of Prescott, Yavapai Rock Club, and a Volunteer for the VA hospital. Dorothy and Basil also gave their time as foster parents in Elgin, Illinois, for Catholic Charities for six years.
Basil enjoyed traveling with his wife Dorothy, time with friends, lapidary, gardening and watching sports.
He is survived by his devoted wife Dorothy; daughter Dorothy (Gary); sons, Gregory (Nancy), Geoffrey, Shawn (Helen) and Steffen (Cindy); grandchildren, Gregory, Blake, Catherine, and twin granddaughters, Mary and Samantha.
A Celebration of Basil's life and Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church at 1 p.m. Friday, June 23, with Father Richard DeTore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorials in Basil's name to be sent to YRMC Hospice, P.O. Box 26565, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86312.
Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
