Dan P. Jones' Rite Due Today
MESA -- Funeral services for Dan P. Jones, pioneer law maker and educator, who helped settle this community 58 years ago, will be held today in Mesa First ward chapel, with Bishop Isaac Dana officiating.
The 80 year-old former speaker of the state house of representatives died Saturday night after a lengthy illness.
Through his long and busy life, Dan Jones was active in the life both of the state and community. He engaged in farming, served as chairman of the Water Users council, acted as a justice of the peace and was a leader in Mormon church activities.
Surviving are his wife, Mary, and eight sons. The Meldrum Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
