JACK RUSSELL, 74, WELLTON PIONEER, DIES

Funeral services for John Russell, 74-year-old Wellton pioneer who died last night following a long illness of dropsy, will be held at the O. C. Johnson chapel Saturday at 11 p.m., it was announced at the Johnson Mortuary.  Interment will take place in the Yuma cemetery.

Details of his life were not known here today, but friends said he homesteaded in the Wellton area and at one time owned the land on which Wellton is now located.  He gradually sold off most of the property but still retained some properly in that community.

A son, Jay Russell, of Long Beach, was expected to arrive here today.
