Pioneer Cattle Rancher Dies PRESCOTT, May 25 -- John Stephens, 79 years old, prominent Yavapai county cattleman of the old days and a resident here three quarters of a century, died in his Prescott home this morning after an illness of three weeks. Stephens was born in Texas in 1860 and came here with his parents when four years old. He acquired extensive range holdings in Yavapai and Coconino counties and once was said to own more cattle than any other man in Arizona's history. He also owned and developed real estate holdings in Prescott. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Myrtle Stephens and Miss Beryl Stephens, both of Prescott, and a sister, Mrs. Warren Potts of California. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p. m., Saturday in the Ruffner Mortuary chapel followed by burial in Mountain View Cemetery.
