Edward J. Polley
Ed Polley passed away unexpectedly on July 24, 2011. Ed was adored and admired by all who knew him due to his quick wit, great stories, amazing talent and love of life. A general contractor by trade but a craftsman at heart, Ed could imagine then build just about anything. His talent and artistic ability for hand-crafted design was extraordinary.
He also designed and fabricated remarkable fiberglass creations for over 50 years. Ed travelled the world in the mid 1970s, racing his beautiful Formula 5000 car, which he also built with his own hands. Over the past 22 years he has made his home in Parks, Arizona. He enjoyed hiking in the mountains, the sun, the tall pines – he just really loved the beauty in all nature. He spent lots of time caring for his beloved animals and every stray that was lucky enough to come his way.
Working on his own projects, having a beer with his buddies and spending time with his family were his greatest pleasures. Ed Polley was a truly amazing man and a tremendous loss has been suffered by his many friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and their son Matthew with whom he lived in Parks; daughter Donna Polley (Martin Barajas), Parks; Adam Polley (Dawn), Phoenix; Shannon Neff (Ron), Seattle and grandchildren Robyn Crouse (Joe), Max and Ben Barajas; Mackenzie and Allison Polley; and Zachary, Sam and Josh Neff.
Services will be held at Norvel Owens in Flagstaff with visitation on Thursday July 29th 6:00pm – 8:00pm and funeral services Friday, July 30th at 9:00am.
Gravesite service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made in his name to Second Chance Shelter or Coconino Humane Society in Flagstaff are deeply appreciated.
