MACKAY, Durwood (DW)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, June 14, 2006 Durwood "DW" MacKay passed away Monday, June 12, 2006, at his home in Dewey.Ariz. DW was a past Commander Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 720 in Phoenix, and a member of the American Legion Post 78 in Humboldt. DW served in WWII in Africa, Italy and France. DW is survived by his son, Larry, of El Paso, Texas; sister, Helen Esther Mathisen (David); brother, Donald; sister-in-law, Dora; and several nephews, nieces and a granddaughter. Commemoration Services in honor of DW will be held Friday, June 16, 2006, at 11 a.m., at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott Valley, Ariz., with a visitation held one hour prior to the services at the Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #6, Prescott; burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Park in Dewey, Ariz. The family suggests memorial contributions in honor of DW to the "Hospice of the Pines", 13175 E. Highway 169. Dewey, Ariz. 86327 Arrangements entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home.
