MOORE, Michael Alan (Mick)


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Sunday, July 31, 2011 Michael Alan "Mick" Moore, 71, died Sunday, July 3, 2011. He was born Aug. 30, 1939, in The Plains, Ohio. He was the second of five children of Robert Wilson Moore and May Amorette McCullough Moore. He attended Grandview Heights High School (in central Ohio), where he distinguished himself in football and student offices. Mr. Moore graduated in 1957 and served two years in the U.S. Army Reserve. He attended Oberlin College and in 1963, he graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in psychology and a specialty in criminology. He moved to California and began a career as a probation officer for Los Angeles County. After 18 years with the probation department, he moved to Arkansas and operated a quail farm. He later attended the University of Arkansas, earned a master's in social work, and began his final career as a psychotherapist, counseling clients of The Guidance Center in Flagstaff. Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Faith; sons Ryan Moore, son of Jean McQuilkin-Carfagno, Los Angeles, Lane Groves, Temecula Calif., and Gil Groves, Carlsbad, Calif.; daughters Abigail Moore-Isakson, Valparaiso, Ind., and Katie Trejo, Kingman; siblings Elizabeth Westenbarger, Athens, Ohio, Millicent Moore, Columbus, Ohio, and Patrick Moore, Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death brother Peter Robin Moore. A memorial service will be Aug. 6, at 2 p.m., at Norvel Owens Mortuary, in Flagstaff.
