Corporal Stephen James Raderstorf, age 21, of Peoria, Arizona, was killed in the line of duty on January 7, 2007, in Balad, Iraq. Stephen was born December 23, 1985, in Mesa, Arizona.
He had lived in Indiana, California, Uganda and East Africa over the course of his childhood. He was a 2003 graduate of Prescott High School. Stephen graduated from basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia, on August 5, 2005, then was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was deployed to Iraq on October 1, 2006.
Among his many talents, Stephen was a musician, songwriter and master of dialects. He could go into character at any time to entertain us. He had a mischievous smile and a quick wit.
Stephen is survived by his parents, James and Sharon Raderstorf; and brothers, Philip and Joel, all of Peoria; fraternal grandparents, Don and Joyce Raderstorf of Sun City; and maternal grandfather, Max Graham of Glasford, Illinois; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family, friends and church family in Phoenix, however already sorely miss him, we are very proud of him for his sacrifice for his country.
His visitation will be on Tuesday, January 16, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave. in Glendale.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary. Military honors will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
