The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, August 02, 2011 Hilda H. Southard, 91, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born March 3, 1920, in Braymer, Mo., passed away July 31, 2011. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Aug. 5, 2011, at Heritage Memorial Park. Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home. ~~~~~~~~~~ Sunrise Funeral Home, Prescott Valley, Arizona Hilda Southard Hilda Hamblin–Southard, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, who realized a musical career as teacher in public school music and as a soprano soloist, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home with her family and friends by her side. Hilda had taught in Hamilton and in Excelsior Springs, Missouri; in Afton, Iowa; in Phoenix and in Scottsdale, Arizona. She had sung in church choirs, varying from positions in Christ Episcopal and in Church of Christ, Scientist, to volunteer choirs, as that of Central Methodist, Phoenix; as well as, in civic choruses. She was a graduate of Northwest Missouri State Teachers College, now N.M.S.U. Hilda was born March 3, 1920 near Braymer, Missouri. It was as a child that she publicly professed her commitment to the Christian faith. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Charles B. Southard. She is survived by son, Jon Douglas Southard of Flagstaff; grandsons Jesse and Lucas Southard also of Flagstaff, daughter, Charisa Ann Little, and son-in-law, Dale Little of Prescott Valley, Arizona as well as step-grandchildren and great grandchildren and a niece and nephews and a multitude of cousins in Missouri. A graveside ceremony will be held at 10:30 am Friday, August 5th at the Heritage Memorial Park Cemetery in Dewey with a reception at her home following.
