RASMUSSEN, Joel Edward


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, August 03, 2011 Joel Edward Rasmussen, 54, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away at home after a very brief fight with cancer on July 26, 2011, surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Joel was born April 10, 1957, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Helen and DeVerl Rasmussen, the youngest of two boys. He attended Pocatello High School, graduating in 1975, where he lettered in football, wrestling, and golf. He was a district champion in wrestling. He later went on to coach wrestling in Globe, Ariz. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Kellie F. Poole, in the Idaho Falls Temple on Oct. 11, 1975. Together they had four children: three girls and one boy. Joel started working for Wesco Electrical Distribution right out of high school, which later moved him to Globe, Ariz. in 1987. There he worked as a branch manager for 11 years until he moved back to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1998, where he continued his work in electrical wholesales up until his passing. Joel was a loving husband, devoted father, and an amazing grandfather to seven grandchildren, who loved his family more than anything. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fly fishing, and golfing. He loved the outdoors and the time spent with family on camping trips. He was the biggest fan at all of his kids and grandkid’s sporting, cheerleading, and dance events. He also enjoyed movies, family dinners, holidays, and traveling. Joel is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kellie F. Rasmussen; his children, Hollie J. Lopez (Eddie), Jason K. Rasmussen (Melissa), Heidi J. Carrell (Trent), and Ashley J. Soran (Kabe), as well as seven grandchildren: Aaron, Jacob, and CJ Lopez, Hailie and Bella Rasmussen, Felicity Carrell, and Chloe Soran. He is also survived by his brother, Marty Rasmussen, as well as a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Helen and DeVerl Rasmussen. Funeral services were held at Highland Fourth Ward at 2925 Michelle St. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2011. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
