Marvin "Cotton" Slaughter, 76, went to join the Lord on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, in Dewey, Ariz. He was born to Jess H. and Agnes B. Slaughter in Phoenix, Ariz., on Nov. 23, 1934.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Ruth, and his brother, Horace.
He is survived by his wife, Lana; his children Lori and Mike (Patty); his stepchildren Terry (Jerry) and Jim; his siblings Ella (sister-in-law), William (Kathy), Beverly (Larry), Lenora (Richard) and Lois (Dwain); his grandchildren Brian, Laura, Christopher and Amelia; and six great-grandchildren.
Marvin was an avid hunter, avid fisherman and an amazing craftsman who could build or fix anything. He worked at Trus Joist in Phoenix, California and Oregon. Cotton had many friends and relatives that will miss him greatly. A special thanks to Steve for all his help and friendship to Cotton during his illness.
A visitation service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 West Beardsley in Phoenix, Ariz., with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 a.m.

Marvin "Cotton" Slaughter, 76, of Dewey, Ariz., born Nov. 23, 1934 in Phoenix, Ariz., passed away Aug. 1, 2011.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. with services following at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8, 2011, at Phoenix Memorial Park.
