Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from Aug. 4 to Aug. 14, 2011 - George Edward Smith, age 77, a 5-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away at home on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. He was born on September 1, 1933, in Centerline, Mich. He lived in Hillsman, Mich. for 15 years, and spent three years in Laughlin, Nev. before moving to Fort Mohave. George was a Supervisor of Pattern Makers at Volkswagen until he retired in 1988. He was an Altar Server and helped celebrate mass at St. John the Baptist Church at the Riverside Casino in Laughlin, Nev. He was a member of Knights of Columbus St. John the Baptist Mission Council 12690, in Laughlin, Nev. He was the adored husband of Gloria Ann Smith; beloved father of three daughters, Jackie, Cheri (Dan) and Laurie (Larry); five grandchildren, Tom , Shaun, Scott (Stephanie), Kyle and Kelly; three great-grandchildren, Bianca, Milana and Natalia. There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Church, 3055 El Mirage Way, in Laughlin, Nev., officiated by Father Charles B. Urnick. George will be laid to rest at Desert Lawn Memorial Gardens, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz.
