CARLON, Loyal Deloss, Jr.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, August 08, 2011 Loyal Deloss Carlon Jr., 87, of Sun Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Prescott, passed away July 17, 2011, in Chandler, Ariz. Born in Baltimore, Md., on Sept. 14, 1923, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He remained proud of being a Marine his entire life. His professional life in the office supply business spanned nearly four decades. He was employed by the Bates Manufacturing Co. for 27 years where he was National Sales Manager, VP of Sales & Marketing and Western Regional Sales Manager. He subsequently retired from Scripto/Tokai Pen Co. in 1991. Loyal volunteered for several organizations including San Clemente (CA) Medical Center, the Yavapai County Juvenile Justice System and the Yavapai Regional Medical Center, where he also served as a hospice volunteer. An avid reader and collector of books, Loyal also loved traveling, food and cooking. In his retirement years he enjoyed playing tennis, following sports on TV, and particularly loved watching professional football and tennis. He will be missed for his wit and great sense of humor, as he made life fun for the many who were lucky enough to cross his path. Loyal took great pride and pleasure in the successes of all his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judy; sons Loyal III, G. Alexander and Rodney and their mother Georgia Keesey; step-son Craig Kujawa; sister Kathryne C. Holdt; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Margaret Carlon Sr., and sister, Jane C. Cox. The family is planning a celebration of Loyal's life at a later date.
