(Maiden Name: Born)

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, August 08, 2011 Beverly Born Korthaus entered the Kingdom of Heaven on June 7, 2011, from her home in Keyport, N.J., but her roots lay in Arizona. Bev's great-grandmother was Sallie Shivers Fisher Goldwater, whose family pioneered the Prescott-Chino Valley area in 1864 where grandmother Ethel Mary Shivers Eads was born. Paternal grandparents Charley and Margie Born settled the Lynx Creek-Prescott area in the late 1800s. Their ninth child was Bev's father, Ralph. Born in Pittsfield, Mass., in 1944 and after a stay in Schenectady, N.Y., in 1954 she moved with her family to their hometown of Prescott, Ariz., where she attended Lincoln School where her father had 30 years before. Moving to Tucson in 1955, Bev attended Brown Elementary, Townsend JH and graduated from Rincon High as a member of Purple Sage Honor Society. At the UofA, she was in the honors program in history spending a summer as secretary of a Spanish studies program in Guadalajara and was with Phi Lambda Phrateries. Upon her marriage, Bev moved to Matawan, N.J., where she and her husband parented the two brightest lights in her life, Brad in 1965 and Christopher in 1968. She always loved sports and knew all the rules. As a volunteer with the Aberdeen-Matawan little league she was the first woman to manage a championship team, the "Eagles." She never missed any of her sons' ball games if she could help it. She was also a devoted Giants fan. She also worked over 20 years on the Matawan Regional High School staff; 12 of those years happily assisting students in acquiring entrance into colleges of their choice. Bev was a beautiful intelligent person much loved by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her father Ralph Born. Bev is survived by husband Glenn; sons Brad (Tery) of Chandler and Chris (Georganne) of Matawan, N.J.; mother Katherine of Tucson; sister Kris Holt (Randy) of Prescott; brother Doug and his son Jason of Tucson; granddaughters Ashley and Chelsey.
