Judith “Judy” Johnson (nee Turley) passed peacefully from this life to the next on July 30th, 2011. She is preceded in death by her father Edgar Wayne Turley.
She is survived by her husband Joseph (Jerry) Johnson and her mother, Mary Pearl Turley (nee Kutch) and her brothers, Marvin (and Janis) Turley, Jim (and Connie) Turley; her sisters, Caroline (and Frank) Perkins, Kathy Boyse and Susan Ballew; and her children Joline (and Richard) King, Todd (and Janis) Johnson, Janea (and Stuart) Waite, and Joy (and Michael) Whiting; along with 10 grandchildren: Matthew, Kristin, Jennifer and Bryant King; Chanelle, Tyler, Blake and Celeste Johnson; Cambria Whiting and Jaymison Waite.
Judy was born in Winslow, Arizona on the only non-windy day of the year, April 13, 1942. She graduated from Holbrook High school in May of 1960 and was married in August of that same year to her eternal companion and husband for the past 51 years that faithfully stood by her side and became her full-time caretaker as she defied the odds of a disease that ravished her mortal body.
Judy served faithfully in a multitude of callings in the Relief Society and Young Women’s organization of the LDS Church. She taught seminary at Williams High School and she taught Home Economics at Snowflake High School and coached sports and mentored many young women who she came in contact with over the years.
Judy will be missed by her family members and those that knew and loved her, but "Granny J" is finally free from the mortal temple that held her and has passed on to be with her father and her Father in Heaven.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel located at 1720 South Ironwood Road in Apache Junction with a gravesite service to follow at Mesa Cemetery.
A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Bunker's University Chapel, 3529 East University in Mesa.
