She was born in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Everett and Delores Matthews. She was a homemaker. Ellen is survived by her husband, Herbert; sons, Johnny, Steve, James and Chad Lyman; and daughter, Krystle Lyman; brothers, Don Matthews of Claypool, James Matthews of Phoenix, Ariz., Elmer Matthews and Kenneth Matthews of Prairie Du, Wis.; and daughter, Sandy Matthews of Denver, Colo. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.
