Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Tuesday, April 4, 2006 Clarabelle M. Smelser, 82, of Flagstaff, died Monday, April 3, 2006. She was born July 10, 1923, in Flagstaff to Frank and Margaret Compton. She graduated from Flagstaff High School and attended one year at Arizona Teachers College. She was a homemaker and raised her three children here in Flagstaff. She enjoyed square dancing; together with her husband she attended Canada's First National Square Dance Competition. Mrs. Smelser is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, John Smelser, of Flagstaff; daughter Judith Diane Robbison of Bridgeport (Cottonwood); son John Ronald Smelser of Groton, Conn.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Raymond; and one granddaughter. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Citizens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Norvel Owens Mortuary.
