TAYLOR, Jesse E.


The Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on August 14, 2011 - Jesse E. Taylor was born in Gem, Kan., on Sept. 2, 1927. He passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, in Kingman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Evelyn (Self) Taylor; Essie (Wothen), his wife of 50 years; brother, Glen; sister, Pearl; and granddaughter, Tonya. Jess grew up in Yuma,. He started his first business repairing radios, a skill he learned while he was in the Navy. He also did photography work and developed his own film. He moved to California and worked for General Dynamics as an electrical engineer on the Atlas Missile, then project engineer, building launch pads for the Saturn Apollo and Minuteman Early Warning Missile Defense System throughout the United States. He designed and built custom homes, and owned and operated a concrete ready-mix company in Arkansas. He owned ArrowHead Realty in Pine, Ariz., and Clear Creek Realty in the Blue Ridge area of Arizona. He was a pioneer in the establishment of the Northern Arizona Board of Realtors. He was also past president. Jess was very talented and creative in many different areas of the art world. His paintings and sketches are commercial quality. He was a hunter and fisherman. He was a lifetime member of the North American Hunter's Club. Over the years, he made many friends and touched a lot of lives. He will be missed and never forgotten by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Gerry Greer of Winslow; brother, Jack (Mae) Taylor of Yuma; sister, Ruby; son, Jerry (Starla) Taylor of Moore, Okla.; and daughter, Evelyn (Dub) Dewitt of Adrian, Mo. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jaron, Toye, Tammera and Krista; his great-grandchildren, Jaron, Starla, Jezreal, Tristan, Jaydyn, Brittany, Ashley, Megan, Brandy, William, Wyait, Wayde and Whitley; his great-great-grandchild, Azalea; and the families of Chris (Julie) Greer and Eric (Tina) Greer of Winslow; and Ed (Dorcas) Greer of Williams; and Alise (Joe) Hittle of Payson. Cremation will be at the Sutton Memorial Funeral Home. Services are not planned at this time.
