Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, August 17, 2011 Belva “Sue” Barney, age 68, of Alamogordo, N.M. passed away on Aug. 10, 2011 at Mountain View Hospital in Las Cruces, N.M. She was born on Jan. 2, 1943, in Miami, Ariz. to Lorenzo “Whitey” and Lorene Hale. She lived in Miami, Ariz. until 1973 when she moved to Alamogordo, N.M. She married Bud Barney in 1976. She dedicated her life to helping others and was employed with the following: Christ Community School and New Mexico School for the Visually Handicapped. She also owned NuWay Decorating & Upholstery among many other occupations and talents. Her hobbies included crocheting quilts which she donated to area orphanages. She also enjoyed camping with family. She loved to dance and sing and always had a smile for everyone. In addition to her husband of 35 years, Ashbel “Bud” Barney of Alamogordo, N.M., she is survived by her children, Allen (Talley) Cupples of Alamogordo, N.M., Larry Cupples of Alamogordo, N.M., Jonathan (Jane) Cupples of Virginia Beach, Va., Tiny (Loyd) Crutchfield of Avada, Colo., Dodie (Tim) Linville of Alamogordo, Bronco (Deana) Woloshen of Portland, Texas, Dolly Price of Capitan, N.M., and Rick Barney of Lamar, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Huggins of Globe, Ariz., Sharon Hale of Florence, Ariz., and Ozella Hale of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers, Vernon Hale of Phoenix, Ariz. and Paul Hale of Globe, Ariz. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo (Whitey) and Lorene Hale; brother, Bobby Hale; and sister, Bonnie Anderson. Memorial Services for Belva Sue Barney will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011, at Safford Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Safford Union Cemetery.
