Patrick William “Bill” O’Connor passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at age 88. He was born to William and Kathryn (Robbins) O’Connor March 1, 1923 in Omaha, Neb.
Bill, as he was known to his family and friends, joined the Army Air Corps in January 1943 and was honorably discharged in February 1946, during World War II. On Aug. 2, 1947, he married his beloved bride, Shirley Ann Blair, and together they made Lake Havasu their home 41 years ago from Panorama City, Calif. Bill was one of the original pioneers of Lake Havasu, and shortly after coming here he started the White Sheet.
He will be dearly missed for many things, but he will always be remembered for how he could make people laugh.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years Shirley O’Connor; sons, Tim and Terry O’Connor; daughters, Connie Samiano, Pam Armstrong and Pattie Banker; brothers, Jim and Jack O’Connor; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. today with a rosary to be said at 7 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Father Thomas Kawai will offer words of comfort and inspiration. VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81 will present full military honors. Burial will follow the services at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.
