Evans was killed in a one car accident eight miles east of Wickenburg shortly after 9 o’clock last Saturday morning, thus becoming the second highway fatality of the year in the Wickenburg patrol district. Highway Patrolman Joe Hershey, investigating officer, said the car Evans was driving, a 1959 Ford sedan belonged to Joe K Hardee, 30, of Los Angeles and who was a passenger in the car, went out of control just after it had passed the car driven by Lucy Bange, secretary of Superintendent of Schools H.K. The car going an estimated 75 miles per hour, according to Hershey, hit the center median, the left side going up on the island, continued 134 feet before going off into the median ditch, then slid broadside 331 feet before landing back on the road and rolling over one and one-half times. Hardee said Patrolman Hershey, refused medical treatment at the hospital. The patrolman took him to Phoenix Saturday evening.
