Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona May 18, 1967 Killed In Cave In At Alamo Dam A cave in at the Alamo Dam under construction on the Bill Williams River north of Wenden claimed the life of a young construction worker the afternoon of May 10. Jessie S. Hughes, age 29, of Yuma, was rushed to Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was taken to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner in Phoenix who reported to Justice of the Peace Lester Skrumbellos here Monday that death was due to suffocation. The accident occurred in Yuma County. The Bill Williams River is the boundary between Yuma and Mohave counties. Hughes was employed by the Hensler Construction Co. of California which has the contract for building the dam.
