Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona June 15, 1967, page 4 Accidental Rifle Shot Kills Youth A coroner's inquest was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon of this week in the Justice Court of Lester Skrumbellos here to inquire into the cause of death of Donald W. Scott, age 19, of Phoenix. He died Thursday afternoon of Last week in Community Hospital here where he was brought after suffering an accidental gunshot wound in the Date Creek area northwest of here. Authorities said young Scott was on a camping trip with two friends when the tragic accident occurred. He had set his .22 caliber rifle on the floor of a pickup truck bed. Sitting on the edge of the truck, he had fired a shot and was setting the lever-action rifle down when it accidentally discharged, the slug striking him in the head. A native of Lincoln, Neb., he was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Richard E. Hilderbrand and moved to Phoenix from Los Angeles. He was a 1967 graduate of Alhambra High School in Phoenix. Funeral services were held at 3 p. m. Tuesday with burial in Glendale.
