Saddened family and friends gathered in St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at 9 a.m. Monday of this week to pay their last respects to Mrs. Florence Olive White, wife of William H. White, who died July 5 in Community Hospital here. She had been in the hospital since June 15. She was 70 years of age.
The Rev. William D. White, Rector of St. Alban’s conducted the services and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Hassayampa Chapter of the Eastern Star, with which Mrs. White was affiliated, conducted its ritual at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Sunday afternoon.
A native of Santa Rosa, California, Mrs. White moved to Wickenburg in 1940. For several years she operated the restaurant east of the river which is today known as the Frontier Inn. She was also an owner of the El Recreo trailer court.
Mr. & Mrs. White moved from Wickenburg to Prescott, later lived in Yarnell and Congress and returned to Wickenburg a year ago when they bought a home in Fisher Addition.
She was long active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Harding who made her home with the Whites here in Wickenburg; Mrs. Ida Simpson, Mrs. Becky Jones and Mrs. Christine Weldon, all of Bishop, Calif., and a brother Jay Cray, living in California. Mrs. Simpson and Mrs. Jones came here for the services.
