Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona August 3, 1967, page 1, 2 Local Pilot is Killed In Copter Crash The friends he made during his more than two years’ residence here were shocked to learn of the tragic death of Harold Clause, age 45, which occurred in a helicopter crash 42 miles north of Pinedale, Wyo., July 27. Mr. & Mrs. Clause bought the Danens Arena property on the Prescott Highway in late 1965 and had built a new home there. They have been raising horses. Their three young sons have been in school here. Mr. Clause, a former Navy pilot was employed by Hillcrest Helicopters, Inc., of Lewiston, Idaho. Since his Navy service he had spent his summers flying over national forests in several states of the Northwest for the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Geological survey. Also killed in the crash last Thursday was a passenger in the helicopter, Emery E. Miller, 37, of La Verne, Calif. The two men had been stationed at Bondurant, Wyo., for two weeks prior to the crash. According to the wire services, the helicopter passengers had been flying in contact by radio with a ground crew in the Green River country of Sublette County, Wyo. When radio contact was lost, the ground crew searched the area and found the burned remains of the aircraft and the bodies of the two men. At the time of going to press The SUN had no information regarding funeral arrangements. In addition to the wife and three sons, Mr. Clause is also survived by a married daughter and his parents.
