LIRON, Joan Anne

(Maiden Name: Jackman)

Crystal Rose Funeral Home, Tolleson, Arizona Joan Anne Liron (Nee Jackman) Wife, mother, friend and lover of John Richard Liron passed away on December 22nd 2007. Born on 12th April 1935 to Albert Edward Jackman and Edna May Jackman (Nee Bryant) at Kilburn, London, Middlesex, Joan was raised and educated in London and trained as a Secretary and Bookkeeper. Joan came to the Island of Jersey in the Channel Islands in 1952 with her parents and entered the hotel trade starting at the Jubilee Hotel, Esplanade, St Helier. Shortly after her arrival Joan met John and they were married in 1955. Joan and John then started, with the help of her father, in the South Western Hotel, Weighbridge, St Helier, which later was refurbished and became the Harbour Lights Hotel. They were tenants there for thirteen and one half years, during which time Joan produced the amazing family of John, Deborah, Karen, Gail and Richard who, in their turn, have produced twelve grandchildren. On the way to their own families they have collected university degrees, high honors in nursing and IT teaching and military service with the Royal Air Force. Joan and John then moved to the Adelphi Hotel, The Parade, St Helier, where Joan became deeply involved with the charitable side of the licensed trade, namely the Jersey Licensed Victuallers Association Ladies Auxillary. Their fund raising was very successful and many projects in Jersey were the result of the hard work by Joan and the many ladies of the Auxillary. After seventeen years at the Adelphi Joan and John retired to Avondale, Arizona and have spent the last sixteen years gardening, vacationing and living happily in the sunshine. After fifty-two years of marriage Joan has gone to rest, a fine lady who was a joy to be with, and forever in my heart, John
