WILLIAMS, John Arthur


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Sunday, August 21, 2011 - John Arthur Williams, 85, passed away Aug. 17. John was a native of Denver, Colo., and was a Yorktown resident since June 16. He served as a Combat Air Crewman in the U.S. Navy during World War II, including being present in Tokyo Harbor at the Japanese surrender. After the war, he graduated from the University of California, Berkeley. He was employed by the San Diego Unified School District as a business teacher for more than 30 years and retired in 1985. John enjoyed many years of retirement in Lake Havasu City. John is survived by his son, Thomas B. (Tammy) Williams, of Yorktown Va.; daughter, Sue Ann (Bob) Leland, of Tulsa Okla.; step-daughter, Donna (Gerry) Schulte, of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A private family memorial service will be held in Yorktown, Va. at St. Mark Lutheran Church with Rev. Gary Erdos officiating.
