Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona November 2, 1967 William Allen Kellis - Draper Post of the American Legion, with which he had long been affiliated, conducted military graveside services last Saturday afternoon for William Allen, a resident of Wickenburg since 1931, who died at his home here October 25. Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery following services in the Wickenburg Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Thurman Shinault, pastor of the Church of God. Known to his many friends as "Red,” Mr. Allen was a native Arizonan, born August 18, 1890, in Wilcox. He was a veteran of World War I and, in addition to the American Legion; he also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post here. In his earlier years before enlisting in World War I he was a cowboy and followed that occupation after the war but he spent most of his life in mining. His was a five generation Arizona family. Mr. Allen is survived by his wife Ruth, a son John of Wickenburg and daughter Mrs. Lois Shelstad of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren; four sisters also survive, Mrs. Bertha Boyd and Mrs. Lena McMean, of Wilcox, and two living in Venice, Calif. two brothers.
