Whiting Indio, Calif.--- Funeral services were held from the FitzHenry Funeral Home Chapel Monday, October 30 at 1 p.m. for John Federick Whiting, a lifelong hard rock miner who lived in Wickenburg from 1952 to 2954. He died October 25 in a Palm Springs, Calif., hospital. Mr. Whiting was born December 31, 1913 in Hachita, New Mex. He had lived in California many years and in the Indio community the past four. He was a member of Indio Elks Lodge No. 1643 which officiated at the funeral services and the burial in the Coachella Valley Cemetery. Survivors include his widow Iris Whiting of Indio; two sons, Capt. Richard C. Whiting of the Marine Corp in North Carolina and Larry Whiting of Nebraska. Three sister, two brother and four grandchildren also survive.
