Lefkovitz Dies – Funeral last Sunday for Popular Resident
A shock to this community where he had lived a long while and enjoyed the friendship of hundreds, was the sudden death of Ralph Lefkowitz on Thursday evening, December 23, while he was on duty at the Walters Texaco Station.
Although afflicted with a heart ailment for which he had been undergoing treatment for some time, Ralph appeared in the best of health as he went about his duties at the station. About 9:30 p.m., he collapsed in the office and passed away within a few seconds.
Ralph was 53 years of age and was born in Gainesville, Tex. He came to Arizona in 1930 and was employed in Sperger’s Store in Aguila for several years. He then joined the Wickenburg Ice Company and was employed by that concern almost continuously until 1945 when he started working at the Texaco station.
Ralph was a patient at Papago Park Veteran’s Hospital of several occasions within the past year or more. He was one of the town’s most enthusiastic hunters.
A veteran of World War I, Ralph received a full military burial last Sunday afternoon conducted by Kellis-Draper post of the American Legion, in the Wickenburg cemetery. Rev. Charles A. Suber read the funeral rites at the Wickenburg Chapel.
The only known survivor is a brother, who is believed to be living in California. Efforts to locate him were unavailing.
