VAN FOSSEN, John William

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, August 22, 2011 John William Van Fossen passed away Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at Camelot at Grandville in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was 82 years old. John was born on May 26, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif., to John and Mary (Slaughter) Van Fossen. John retired from Chrysler Corporation after 30 years and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He passed his love of the outdoors to his grandsons and together they had many fun outings with Grandpa and his old Ford truck. He will be most remembered for his sense of humor and love of family events. He will truly be missed. John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara of Prescott, Ariz.; sons, Mike (Leslie) of California and Bon (Cheryl) of California; daughter, Kelly Byrd (Aaron) of Prescott, Valley, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark, in 1992. A private family memorial service is scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
