Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona November 10, 1950 Rites in Phoenix for Father Of Tom Bowles Funeral services for J. T. (Tom) Bowles, father of Tom Bowles, Jr., Wickenburg manger for the Mountain Staples Telephone and Telegraph Company were conducted Wednesday afternoon at Memory Chapel in Phoenix by the Rev. W.J. Sims and the Rev. Gillette Bechtel. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix. Mr. Bowles, former Maricopa County Assessor, died Monday afternoon at his home at 6621 South First Street, Phoenix. Mr. Bowles, 77 years old, had been in ill health for the past two years. He was born in Virginia and lived in Arizona for 45 years. He was a deputy in the office of the Maricopa County Assessor for 20 years prior to 1942 when he was elected Assessor. He was re-elected in 1944. He served for nine years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Osborn and the Roosevelt school districts in Phoenix. He was also in the building construction business and started the Bowles residential subdivision on south Central Avenue in Phoenix. Surviving, in addition to son Tom Bowles, Jr., of Wickenburg, are the widow Elizabeth, a daughter, Mrs. Grover Lantzer of Casa Grande, and four other sons, Harry T. Bowles of Casa Grande, W.N. Bowles of Los Angeles, C.A. Bowles of Holbrook, and R. G. Bowles of Litchfield Park. (the rest of the article is missing)
