Funeral for Mrs. Gertrude McKinney will be this weekend in her native Clinton, Ill., where she was born on October 7, 1897. Mrs. McKinney passed away suddenly Saturday evening at the Community Hospital here. Her daughter, Mrs. Lewis Witt of Ontario, Calif., and Mr. Wilt accompanied the body to Clinton, Ill., leaving Wickenburg on Monday afternoon. Services and burial were to be conducted there at the end of this week. The ladies Aid of the First Presbyterian Church here, of which Mrs. McKinney was an active member, held memorial services for her at the church Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. McKinney came to Wickenburg five years ago from Phoenix where she had lived for four years. She was a member of Eastern Star and the First Presbyterian Church.
In 1898 the then Gertrude Ledden was married to James E. McKinney who died in Hammond, Ind., on January 6, 1946. To this union were born 12 children, all of whom survive. They are: Paul of Decatur, Ill., Wayne of Baldwin, Mich.; James, Donald, Edd, Mrs. Frankie Williams and Mrs. Elizabeth Trill, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Lowell of Sparta , Mich.; Mrs. Ruth Alkema of Ludington, Mich.; Mrs. Louise Greonleer of Lansing, Mich.; Mrs. Helen Brink of Flint, Mich.; and Mrs. Amanda Wilt of Ontario, Calif. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and one great grandchild. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Sally Williams of St Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Carrie Harrold of Wapella, Ill.
