Nov. 30, 1930 — Aug. 19, 2011
Leo passed away peacefully in Apache Junction, and his home for the last six years. He was 80 and was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joanne; and by his son; Patrick. Leo was born and raised in Detroit, Mich., and spent four years in the Air Force. Upon his discharge, he resettled in Michigan, where they raised their family. The family moved to Colorado and then to California and upon retiring, moved to Lake Havasu City. Leo was a master carpenter and general contractor, spending many years doing what he loved in the building industry. While in Lake Havasu, Leo was active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, which allowed him to spend many holiday weekends patrolling the Lake, an activity he loved. He was also active in the Lake Havasu Democratic Party.
Leo is survived by his three sons, Michael (Karen), of Rohnert Park, Calif., Randall (Kathleen), of Victor, Mont., and Richard, of LeShara, Neb.; and his daughter, Jane (Doyle) Headrick, of Granite Bay, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Kashara, Tamera, Katie, Andrea, Steven, Lauren, Eric and Elaine; and nine great-grandchildren, Jade, Raymond, Gage, Holden, Isaiah, Soriah, Carley, Roman and Landon; his brother, Fred (Joan); and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at John Calvin Presbyterian Church in Apache Junction, Friday, at 11 a.m.
The family requests that donations be sent to Hospice Inspiris, 2025 N. 3rd St., Ste. 205, Phoenix, AZ 85004, or the charity of your choice in Leo’s memory, in lieu of flowers. Interment will be at Lake Havasu City Gardens Cemetery.
