B.G. Lee, 80-Year-Old Pioneer Died in Phoenix June 14.
He was Father of Mrs. Ernest Roberts.
Services were conducted in Memory Chapel, Phoenix Monday afternoon for Harnett H. Lee, 80-year-old pioneer and father of Mrs. Ernest Roberts of Wickenburg. He was also the father of Mrs. Marshall Bacon of Indianapolis who with Mr. Bacon, published The SUN prior to 1944. Mr. Lee died in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Phoenix June 14 after a long illness..
Mr. Lee, a descendant of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, was a member of a sheriff’s posse in Cochise County which hunted Geronimo, Apache Indian marauder, during the early years of Arizona. He was born in Texas and came to Arizona in 1889, living first at Bisbee. He worked in the mines there for 18 years and then moved to Phoenix in 1907.
In addition to Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Bacon, he survived by another daughter, Mrs. Orlie Leeman of San Diego, and the widow, Mrs. Beaulah Lee of Phoenix. A sister, Mrs. Nellie foster of Phoenix, also survives.
Burial was in Greenwood Memorial, Phoenix.
