Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona September 19, 1952 Floyd A. Burmister Final rites were held at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning for Floyd Albert Burmisiter, age 70, a resident of Arizona since he was six years old and of the Wickenburg area for the past 30 years. Mr. Burmister passed away at Community Hospital here Sunday at 2 p.m. He had been a patient in the hospital one week but head been in poor health for a month previously to entering the hospital. The Burmister home here is in Fox Addition. Born in Indianola, Iowa, June 22, 1882, Mr. Burmister came to Arizona with his parents. They settled in open range country on the Agua Fria in the vicinity of Mayer and started raising cattle, later acquiring an extensive ranch near Dugas. Mr. Burmister continued in the cattle business until 30 years ago when he moved to his vicinity where he operated mines nearby and at Hillside, Vulture and Congress. He became widely known in the Verde Valley for his horsemanship and rode in all the early Frontier Day parades in Prescott. Surviving are the widow, Alice Rose and four daughters, Mrs. Viola Strojost and Mrs. Alice Wilkins, both of El Monte, Calif.; Mrs. Margaret Kilpatrick of Central Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Lola Adair of Phoenix. Other survivors are a brother, Charles Burmister of Mayer, Ariz., and a sister, Mrs. Lola Bassett of Phoenix. Rev. James Dickie conducted the funeral services at the Wickenburg Chapel Wednesday morning and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
