A Stunned Community
Stunned and saddened by her tragic death early Tuesday morning in Community Hospital were the many, many friends of Mrs. Veronica Beillen, wife of Carl Beillen, well known local businessman and herself a prominent and well loved resident here for more than 15 years.
Prominently identified with the social life of the community, she was best known for her devoted and untiring efforts in behalf of the Community Hospital through her two terms as president of the Women’s Auxiliary and the many hours she spent at the hospital as a volunteer Pink Lady, ministering to the ailing and injured. And there are many in our midst who, over the years, have been recipients of her kindly thoughtfulness in times of distress and sorrow. They will sorely Miss Verna Beillen, as she chose to be called.
News of her death will bring sadness, too, to homes throughout the land, homes of the many men, women and children who came under the spell of her radiant, joyous personality during the years she and her husband owned and operated the Monte Vista Guest Ranch here.
Mrs. Beillen was born October 1, 1916 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where two sisters Marian Platta and Mrs. Myron Rybicke still reside.
She and Mr. Beillen came here from Chicago to become operators of the Monte Vista.
A final tribute to Verna Beillen, at her expressed request was in the nature of a memorial service.
The surviving husband has the deepest sympathies of all Wickenburg.
