Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, August 23, 2011 - Patricia A. (Sobocinski) Papa, 73, of Windham, N.H. and formerly of Lake Havasu City, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at her home. Patricia operated a beauty parlor at her home in Beverly, Mass., for more than 30 years and was known for her generosity and kindness. She moved to Lake Havasu City in 1998, where she worked at Dunlaps, volunteered at Wags to Riches and participated in other charitable endeavors, prior to returning home in May. Patricia was born and educated in Salem, Mass., and she was proud the Sobicinski family was one of the founding families of Polish immigrants in Salem. Patricia enjoyed boating, the beach, and trips to the casino and Jimmy Buffett music. She was an avid reader and enjoyed game shows, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Papa, to whom she was married for more than 46 years; and by her mother, Alice (Dzieranowski) Sobocinski; her father, Alexander; and her brother, Thomas. She is survived by her three sons, Thomas Papa and Joanne Akre, of Peabody, Mass., Anthony (Mary Ellen) Papa, of Gloucester, Mass., and David (Linda Ann) Papa, of Windham, N.H.; daughter, Susan Powers, of Peabody, Mass.; sisters, Dorothy Filip, of Peabody, Mass., Joan Pizzello, of Salem, Mass.; two granddaughters, Kara Papa and Stephanie Powers; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Yawkey Cancer Center at Mass General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114, and the family asks everyone to consider becoming an organ donor.
