MORRIS, Douglas Ray


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, August 24, 2011 - Douglas Ray Morris passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at age 83. He was born to Iowa Ray and Birdie (Cattron) Morris Feb. 24, 1928, in Long Beach, Calif. Doug served proudly under the direction of the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1948. In October 1948, he married his beloved bride, Marilyn Shuck, and together they made Lake Havasu their home 20 years ago from Hemet and Santa Maria, Calif. He worked for General Telephone as a communications engineer for more than 30 years and ITT Kellogg at Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Doug was very interested in genealogy, tracking family roots and stories. He also was a big-time sports fan, but mostly, he was a true family man. Doug leaves behind his wife of almost 63 years, Marilyn Morris; son, Brent Morris and his girlfriend, Lisa Vitela; daughters, Melodee (Wayne) Vosburg, Sherrill (Mike) Gunderson and Lonni Howe; sister, Mary Carrington; grandchildren, Carl, Clayton, Valerie, Melissa, Vibeka, Jason, Tricia, Jamie, Misty, Danielle and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Parker, Saige, Brittni, Ashley, Tyler and Hailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Robert Vosburg and Jeremy Hylton; great-granddaughter, Ava Hylton; and daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Goldey Morris.
