Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, August 30, 2011 - Karen Marie (Enger) Soderberg March 3, 1941— Aug. 28, 2011 Karen Marie (Enger) Soderberg passed away Sunday, in Lake Havasu City. She was born to Joseph and Iona Enger March 3, 1941, in Dickinson, N.D. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., and her master’s degree at Northern Arizona University. She had been a Lake Havasu City resident since 1993. Karen was a lifelong, multifaceted musician and former teacher at Oro Grande Elementary School. She served as organist, pianist and director of various choirs at churches in Minnesota, North Dakota, and in Lake Havasu City at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Lake Havasu City Orchestra and a volunteer at the local food bank. Karen was a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother who was a true blessing for her family, friends and community. Karen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Mel; three sons, Paul, of Kremmling, Colo., Daniel, of Shoreview, Minn., and Peter of Gilbert; one sister, Linda Johnson, of Sturgis, S.D.; and one brother, John Enger, of Powell, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Marissa, Brock, Jacob, Zoe, Zachary and Nicholas. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be directed to the local food bank.
