Harlan Dale Stuebs, known to all as "Red," passed away Aug. 31, 2011. Red was born December 1928 in Kewaunee, Wis. He was the only son of Erlo and Irene Stuebs. Red has three sisters, Carol (the late Don) Schumauker of Hartford, Wis., Sherry (George) Raleigh of Neenah, Wis., and Nancy (Keith) Hemp of Lovelock, Nev.
They grew up on a dairy farm in Maribel, Wis. Red enlisted in the Merchant Marines at the age of 18. He married Patricia Myotte in 1950. Together, in 1952, they started their thrill show call the "Hurricane Hell Drivers" in Manitowoc, Wis. Red and Pat soon started a family of six children, Michael Stuebs of Yuma, Ariz., Pamela Stuebs of Spokane, Wash., Terry Stuebs of Kansas City, Mo., Lisa Engeleiter of West Bend, Wis., Michelle (Joseph) Shirkey of West Bend, Wis., and Steven (Vicki) Stuebs of Cascade, Wis. Red also left behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Red later moved to Arizona where he married his second wife, Faye, in 1965, and became a stepfather to Faye's only daughter, Sheila, and grandfather to five children and great-grandfather to four children.
Red made his career as a truck driver for 60 years. He loved to be out on the road. He could name every highway and mile marker in the country. His interests were racing, motorcycles and having a good time sharing stories with a cold Budweiser in his hand.
Red will be deeply missed by his family, friends, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Penny, who all loved him dearly.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at the Chino Valley Cemetery.
Chino Valley Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
