Lucille Schelling Owen, 86, of Prescott, Ariz., born Feb. 1, 1925, in Eola, Ill., passed away Sept. 3, 2011.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sept. 10, 2011, at the Peridot, 211 Bradshaw Drive, Prescott.
Cremation by David's Desert Chapel Funeral Home.

Lucille Schelling Owen, 86, died Sept. 3, 2011. She was born Feb. 1, 1925.
Lucille grew up with Henry and Edith Schelling and brothers Clarence and Edward on a farm in Eola, Ill. She attended a one-room schoolhouse and later went to Monmouth College, where she met her future husband, Richard Owen.
At the age of 32, Lucille was widowed with five children. To support her family, she went back to work and school (B.A. Monmouth, MEd. NIU) and taught English and counseled high school students in Naperville, where she married Max Wesner in 1968. She lived in San Diego from 1973-1997, working for the city in secretarial positions. Lucille settled in Prescott in 1997 to live near her daughter and family.
The last six years she lived at the Peridot with her dog and constant companion, Kyah.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, and son William.
Survivors include children Steven (Robin) of Healdsburg, Richard (Debra) of Escondido, Jean (Bill) of Prescott and Thomas (Jane) of Springfield, Ore.; and grandchildren Chris and Cara of New York, Julie and Andy of California, Ben, Holly and Eric of Oregon, Lindsey of Nevada and Lucy and David of Prescott.
Lucille was a member of the Prescott Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. She enjoyed photography, reading, music, calligraphy, crossword puzzles, playing cards, writing limericks and letters to the editor, hiking, and traveling by cruise ship and RV. She especially prized her grandchildren and spending time with them.
Donations may be made in Lucille's memory to the Prescott Public Library. There will be a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the Prescott Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 945 Rancho Vista Drive, Prescott.
