Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, September 07, 2011 Mary E. Greer, age 93, of Globe, Ariz. passed away on Aug. 28, 2011 at Copper Mountain Inn Nursing Home in Globe, Ariz. She was born in Spence, Wyo. Mary was raised in Yakima, Wash. She moved to San Francisco in her twenties where she met and married her husband Art. While there, they owned and operated an auto body shop. Mary and Art belonged to a hunting club in California. They were members of the local Elks Club. They moved to Arizona in 1976 and became members of the Pinal Mountain Elks Lodge. She loved to travel and through the years traveled extensively to Mexico, Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, Fiji and more. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. “Art” Greer; her parents, W.L. and Anna Mathews; and her brothers, T.E. Mathews and Newton William Mathews. Mary is survived by her beloved niece, Patricia (Ron) Amen; nephew, Tommy Mathews; close friend, Patricia Kilmer; plus numerous relatives in Ireland, Australia and here in the United States. Visitation was held on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe. Funeral Services will be Private at Payson Pioneer Cemetery where she will be interred.
