A four-vehicle collision Thursday evening (May 26) at milepost two on State Route 74 left a 34-year-old woman dead and three other motorists and three children shaken.
Jaime Newman was traveling westbound on SR 74 when she attempted to make a left hand turn. While vehicles slowed behind her, a semi truck rear-ended a pickup truck behind Newman. The pickup truck then rear-ended Newman, pushing her into oncoming traffic and in the direct path of another semi truck.
The eastbound semi truck struck Newman's vehicle, ran it over and skidded 300-400 feet in the desert on top of Newman's vehicle. There were no other serious injuries and Newman was alone in the vehicle.
The Circle City/Morristown Fire Department was first on the scene, at around 7pm and remained until the scene was cleared and the road re-opened at 2:30am.
Other assisting agencies included the Wickenburg Fire Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Lifeline Ambulance service.
